I have a Cayin HA-1A MK2. I bought it new a year ago and I like it and it looks and sounds great. It hasn't been used very much and it's in perfect shape. It works perfectly except that, when it's starting up and the headphones are plugged in you can hear quiet metallic springy sounds while it's heating up. Also, at all times while it's turned on and being listened to, even the slightest tap to any part of the unit, or to the table that it sits on, creates a quiet jingling/springy sound. It's as though there are loose parts jingling around inside even though everything inside looks firm and organized. If the unit is not touched in any way while listening to music there is usually no noise once it has warmed up and it sounds very good.

I have another tube headphone amp that never makes any sounds like this. Any suggestions on what might be causing this?

Hi, it's nearly a year now since your post.
I bought one 3 days ago and i had the same jingling noise issue with the Cayin Ha-1a mk2.
I find out that there was the stock vacuum tubes who got some loose parts inside that hitting the glass of the tubes and it is amplified through the headphone.
So i guess you use it with the original tubes ?

I'll will purchase new tube and see.

That sure sounds like what some older tubes will do. Sometimes they make pinging sounds when they are warming up, as the internals are expanding from the heat. Are you using NOS tubes? Also, some tubes are more microphonic than others, and will ring when you create vibrations. This all sounds like normal tube amp stuff to me. Have you tried another set of tubes?

Edit - I just realized this was an old thread.
