I'm considering reentering the vinyl and turntable world with a Project Debut III Carbon tt. Does anyone know if the output from the stock Ortofon MM cartridge has enough output for the LF or should I anticipate buying a phono preamp?
Thanks

You need a phono pre anyway for proper grounding...Even though the 2M Red is a monster in that regard.

I'd suggest a Cambridge pre. They do great jobs for their price.

Alex Cavalli just confirmed the need for the phono preamp as well with another reminder about the RIAA equalization requirement. He's very impressive with the fast and thorough replies to any LF related questions. Similar thanks to Morbid Toaster and Steve Eddy.

Listening to Santana Caravanserai.  Wow!!  Been a while since I visited this one.  Beautiful sound stage, mids, bass..............LF delight!

^ Icenine2!!! Thank you for remembering this album to me.

I just love how the various percussion instruments tickle the senses. Distant cowbells, chimes and screaming guitars cascade back and forth from left to right. A real caravan of the sonic senses!

I'm glad you're enjoying the journey!

Is there a special recorded version you're listening to?
