have you seen the show "cash cab" on tv? in it, a new york city cab driver asks his fares trivia questions and either awards money or kicks them out. they also get help, called "shout outs" where they can call or ask someone on the street the answer.

i have noticed the cabbie cheats or seems to sometimes. he will tell some of his fares about the shout-outs but not others. he just let a family of three from australia lose us$550 because he did not tell them they had shout-outs. ever notice this?

hahahah, i was just watching this. real cute when the little girl knew it was a vulture

that part may be edited to save time. i noticed that a lot of people don't use their shoutouts, mobile or not.

i think its because they just get caught up in the question

Love the show...I agree the edit probably skips over the shout-out explination. Definetly a better show than "who wants to be a millionare"

this may be true, but in almost all the cases the cabbie has to remind the fares about the shoutouts, but on the last question at the aussie family's destination he fails to mention their shoutouts. that is fishy.

i think it sucks that the discovery channel resorts to silly game shows like this to gain primetime viewers. i always thought of discovery as a channel to go to if you wanted to get away from that kind of stuff.

granted, the rest of the the time i think discovery is great. but this is just a stupid game show that has no place on a channel designed to make you think.

the questions make you think, and they are good questions. plus the new yorkers are hilarious, just like i remember.

if you want to bitch about a discovery show, then let us concentrate on the great but flawed "how its made". THE PUNS HAVE TO STOP, NOW. on a recent "how kitchen knives are made" episode, the narrator said something like, "no matter how you slice it, these knives are a cut above the rest". the way he reads it in that moronic monotone too. geeze get mike rowe to do it.

How Its Made isn't an English language original. I thinks its a dubbed Italian series. So blame the same people that flub ShinChan's many jokes.

Haha, I love love love that show. The narrator gets annoying at times but if you watch it enough you'll subconsciously learn to ignore him. Another show I love is Survivorman. Not sure if they still make new episodes, but that show is hugely entertaining at times. Wouldn't want his job that's for sure

How It's Made is the greatest show on TV (not including PBS). Modern Marvels is a close second. Where they're made? I don't care.

The omnipotent voice of Nova, Modern Marvels and Frontline, Will Lyman, should narrate How It's Made, too . If that guy said the sky was falling, I'd believe him; however, the sky isn't really heavy, so I wouldn't be scared or even try to find cover. He is that convincing. Both Nova and Frontline's success is, in part, due to that voice.

Edit: I just found out that Lyman has a residence here. I hope to meet him one day.

if you watch the credits "how it's made" is made in quebec. it is french-canadian.

lyman is really good, but a bit too soporific for the energetic "how its made". no, the perfect narrator for "how its made" has passed away already: fred rogers. mr. rogers INVENTED the factory film tour with "picture picture": "oh look at that! the pencils are going into the machine!" "that's right, to get erasers put on their heads" "oooh, that reminds me of music!" plus mr. rogers would play his own music that followed or "mickey-moused" the action on screen; never been equalled.

I like Cash Cab. I haven't noticed him not remind someone of a "shout out". No biggie. I don't think he's worried about giving out cash. The show must make plenty of money.

How Its Made is something that I would usually like, but it is presented in such a horribly boring way that I simply can't get through an episode.

Survivorman is awesome!

I'm all about the Mythbusters.

And I'd marry Carie Byron in .0000000000000001231239756439120120545th of a second. She's ridiculous...

well, you could start off your courtship by spelling her name correctly. "kari byron".

she and scotty were smoking hot together on that show. the fact that kari is also a redhead and an artist just sweetens the deal.
