It is about 5 hours drive one way for me - where should I look at staying if I can make it ?

I'll bring my tube-rolling SSMH with a bunch of interesting tubes if I can make it. I have:

1954 Clear Top RCAs 6189s - probably the best USA Made 12au7.

Sylvania 6211s (1966 military tube)
GE 6829s (Late production 1980s tube)

The 6211 and 6829 are high grade (made to medical or military standards), extremely low micro-phonics 12at7 variants with a lower mu than typical. They are higher gain than 12au7 but lower than a typical 12at7 with a better tone than the typical 12av7 or 12ay7 tube.

GE 5965s (an improved 12av7)
RCA 12at7 (1952s) (One of the better 12at7 tubes for less than $50 each)

Sylvania 5963 (Beckman medical grade tubes)
GE 12au7A (1964 production)

These two are basic 12au7 tubes that show off how good a starving student can sound with a tube that can be bought for $15 a pair.

I also have an original 19J6 SSMH for those that might like to compare the 19j6 to the 12a_7 version

Oh wow, it's defintitly a pleasure to have you if we can, that's a heck of a truck. Here's a list of hotels that're pretty close by (right at 10 minutes away). Weddington Road is right off I85 exit 49 (where the Bass Pro Shops etc... are) so just 3 exits down from Station 9 (Exit 52). It's not really vacation time, but there's a really nice (but also very expensive) place called Wolfridge Lodge that has an indoor water park about 5 minutes further if you're wanting to make it a family (or personal) getaway.

Edit: Also, are you just bringing tubes or is the SSMH an amp? Not an expert by any stretch on tubes and rolling so I need your enlightenment :p

I thought it was called Great Wolf Lodge. It is a wonderful place however quite expensive. You cannot use the water park without staying at their hotel which usually runs between $400-$600 a night. Groupons are available to cut that in half.

Yup that's it :p you'd think I'd know it's name by now with all the alarms we run there.

Thank you, I hope everyone enjoys it. I see on your message it has your headphones, do you plan to bring your zmf eikon?

Yeap! Mine's just basic cherry but I do have an BTG Audio OCC Cable. I was hoping to have @zach915m in house OCC to demo with my Eikon as well but I don't think that's going to pan out...

As for gear I MIGHT have an HE 4XX in tow with me as well

Starving Student Millett Hybrid amp. The 19J6 is true to Pete's keep it inexpensive design. The 12a_7 version is a bit upgraded in caps resistors etc.

I would like to listen to your eikon, I have an Atticus and am curious on how they compare. Mine is also cherry.
