Finally couldn't take it anymore. The constant hiss from my laptop headphone jack is driving me nuts and my search for a card or DAC isn't going so well so I ordered a transit. I'm fairly sure this will at least end the hiss problem. Not sure about this device so forgive the ignorant questions.

First, is there software/settings that I can tweak? Since I'll be using it with Foobar, are there any settings I should change there in anticipation of the Transit's arrival?

Not expecting miracles from a $79 piece of gear but perhaps there are a few things I can do to tide me over until I can decide on a DAC for my laptop rig.

All help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

pm lan or romanee. lan modded two of romanee's transits and it makes for a nifty extermal source from a laptop.

Just dropped him a PM. Not sure about mods. Really was just wondering what sort of software tweaks might be available in either the Transit software(if any) and/or Foobar that might enhance the performance/result.

Still, I appreciate the tip. We'll see what ol' Ian can do for the old guy. Thanks Jahn.

Wow! I just did that to my PC's "SoundMax" onboard crap output and it works wonders for the noise floor while I wait to have my AV710 exhanged for a non-defective one. Basically, all I leave on is the master and wave out volumes and it works quite well. Barely audible noise floor, if any.

Still though, damn AV710, and that was going to be my source of choice!
