I received the Compass today, but am having problems.

When I connect it to my pc through the usb connection I do not hear any sound. I have my Denon AH-D7000 headphones connected to the Compass and the USB connection is selected.

Do I need to change anything on my computer? The computer recognizes the Compass as a USB audio device, but continues to send the sound through my computer speakers.

I was all excited to test this tonight, and no sound

When I first tried I heard some slight noise and then a few pops, but that's it.

I know I'm probably doing something stupid, but shouldn't I just be able to connect the cable to a usb port on my pc and the other end to the Compass and presto?

Please help,

I'm using iTunes and JRiver Media Center. Do I need to change the settings in both?

Where is this done in iTunes?

As stated above, change your computer sound settings; sorry if this sound repetitive, but you haven't told us if you tried doing that yet.

Start menu -> control panel -> Sound -> Playback -> ensure that USB Audio device is selected.

You should not need to change any settings in iTunes. I am not sure about JRiver Media Center though.

Yes I did that.

Under sound the drop down only shows the audigy sound card - no other options.

Turn on the compass or else it will disappear from the Sound settings that Rinshin mentioned. Restart your media player every time you turn on the compass to make sure you can see it as an option there. I don't use iTunes but I think you just go to properties and choose your output device.
