Cans with exaggerated bass and highs, hollow midrange. Around 50 $.

So i've got HD 201 for a buddy to use with computer. But he said - those have only midrange, there's neither bass, nor highs. Same thing he said about PX 100... Maybe he just want to get a sound he accustomed to.. I don't think it's a good idea trying to explain about balance, etc. Let the guy get what he want, maybe later he'll want something different. A DT 990 with a bright solid-state amp will be perfect here, but it's absolutely out of budget. So i wondering if there's such a cans around 50$ ?

Sennheiser HD485 have a pretty recessed midrange and can be found around $60-$70.

The problem is most cans with exaggerated bass at that pricepoint just have exaggerated bass.

Then when he gets the hollow midrange cans, he'll say there's just bass and treble and no midrange.

Has he considered using an equalizer (software and/or hardware)?

Actually the HD201's are a bit bright and honky. Then again you did try the PX100's which are very bass oriented headphones so...

Just buy Skullcandy Bass Headband Headphones (SCS-SC) and you willbe very happy with these
