If you are currently shooting Canon, what lens from Nikon lineup that you secretly wish to have (uhm..envy)?

And vice versa, if you are shooting Nikon, which Canon lens that you wish Nikon had it?

Easy. I shoot Canon and I wish I had either the Nikon 100mm macro VR or the Nikon 200mm macro.

What about other things? I really wish I had the R1C1...

None, tI shoot Canon, i think their range of lenses are pretty comprehensive.

I love that Canon macro lens that goes up to 5 times life-size without the need to use bellows, extension tubes or whatever. I wish nikon had something like that!!

While I'm sure the 24mm and 35mm f/1.4 L lenses are fantastic, I really want a 28mm version. 28mm on a 1.6x crop camera is not only a perfect "normal" lens, but, consequently, a focal length that I actually really like shooting at.

The consumer 28mm f/1.8 was okay, but disappointing in image quality. I know Nikon used to make a 28mm f/1.4 which reputationally was an absolutely fantastic lens. I'd love to have one of those on my 1.6x crop cameras.

You seriously find 56mm too far from 50mm to be useable? It's not any worse than 45mm...or whatever the 28mm translates to.

Not really. But I like to shoot just a touch wider. Half the time my 17-55mm f/2.8 IS is just sitting at 28mm (and the other half it's at 17mm or 55mm). Just feels right to me. If I had to pick one of the current Ls as a compromise, I'd probably go with the 24mm, as one can always crop or take two big steps forward. Though this is a tough one, as my research indicates the 35mm is the better lens... hmmm.

See why I want the Nikkor? To avoid making that decision!

I'm in the Sony/Minolta camp, and I rather like the Nikon 18-200 VR AF-S DX lens, which is better than any other 18-200 out there; great for general purpose/travel occasions (though I believe Sony is coming out with high-end 18-250 competitor soon). Of course Nikon can't seem to make enough of this lens to satisfy demand.

I also like the Canon 70-200/f4 L, which is AF quick and has great quality, though I have a Minolta 70-210/f4 that is 4x cheaper, smaller/lighter and stabilized (the AF sucks and there's some CA though).

What I don't miss from Canon/Nikon are the lack of image stabilized fast primes (one of the reasons I didn't go that route), i.e. a stabilized 50mm/f1.7 lens for $70.

I guess I could trade the 20d for a 1dmk3

other than that, i'd trade my mamiya for a blad, and I'd like an m6 as well

As a Canon shooter, about the only thing from Nikon that I would like is a couple of the wider primes. Canon's wide primes, at least the consumer (non L) ones, aren't great lenses. I have the 28 f/1.8, and frequently shoot it wide open. It's not L quality, but it's sharp enough for most purposes. I also like the fact that it's small, light, and discreet.

I shoot Canon, the only Nikkor I would love to have is the 58mm f/1.2 Noct-Nikkor AI-S. Hand-made, with ground (not molded) aspherical elements, it is an available-light lens superbly corrected for coma. Actually, given that it was discontinued ten years ago and sells for over a thousand dollars, I would list it even if I were still a Nikon shooter

If I were still a Nikon shooter and needed to mention one Canon lens, it would be the TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L tilt-shift lens (I considered also the 35mm f/1.4L, but the Nikkor 28mm f/1.4D is close enough). Of course, I shoot Canon and have both, so I need not be green with envy.

The one non-Canon lens I would love to have in a Canon mount is the Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH, the best 50mm lens ever. Of course, that can never happen as it is a rangefinder lens with a short rear focal distance.
