thinking about adding a second listening station. i would just need an amp to power my Audeze LCD2. the benchmark HPA4 looks very interesting (although $3K) or for about $1K less, the SPL Phonitor XE. if i didn't want to spend either of those amounts, there is always the Schiit Mjolinir 2 (under $1K).

I spent about 20min uninterrupted at the show demo'ing the HPA4 - admittedly I wasn't able to test my open headphones to the degree I wanted to but that AMP sounds really d*mn decent!

I have heard the HPA4 at a couple of shows now, and it has sounded great each time with anything I auditioned it with. Tks.

Hey guys, Corsonus from the meet checking in here. Just wanted to post up a pic of the amp stacked, as I forgot to have one setup stacked to show the footprint and also a few people thought the power supply was a DAC. It was nice talking to you guys, and a bit weird being on the other end of the booth for the first time. The two amps at the meet were prototypes but the final product will have an engraved logo and amp name so the front of the amp billet enclosure will change a bit... apologies for any confusion that caused. Live and learn, I guess. I'll post up a pic of the rendered final version soon.

Cheers,
Justin

Not the original poster who inquired about this, but I was trying to figure out what portable amp I demoed at the HIFIMAN station and this was it. I wound up leaving with a negative impression of it, just did not have the power to drive the Arya or Sundara pairs. Happy to know which one it is now, thanks!

Yeah, unless the headphones are easy to drive, it doesn't seem like the best amp for full sized headphones.

Yesterday was my first time participating in CanJam. It was so fun to try new earphones and headphones around.

I would say what has impressed me the most was Final A8000. I have never heard of this brand before and it seems like they are from Japan. There are even staffs from Japan at the booth.

I just could not believe that it is an IEM with only 1 dynamic driver. The speed is so fast with incredible transient response and every tiny details from every instruments is crystal clear.

The separation and layering with completely quite and dark background was an experience that I have never had before from an IEM.

It could be my personal preference though, but I highly recommend those who are going to the show give it a try.
I also heard these recently. Really decent separation and deep background.

Will you (as you have also reviews the DTR1) also review the HA-2 headphone amp from Dethonray?

A very pleasant surprise (DTR1 + HA-2), actually. That little Class A pocket amp is something else, and it's very powerful. When I got it and tested this combo, I noticed DTR1 LO voltage output was too high by default, giving hardly any dynamic range to adjust HA-2 volume with many IEMs. After my suggestion, Anson updated DTR1 fw to have different Line Out levels. Of course, shouldn't be an issue if your DAP has adjustable LO.

I use your bags you gave away quite often going shopping.
Thank you, I'm glad you can get many uses out of them :)
@iFi audio for graciously providing tips and equipment, respectively --- you guys were amazing!
Thank you for your kind words, we are glad we were able to help you :)
Did iFi mentioned anything about upgrade to iTube2?
Perhaps one day iTube3 may happen but upgrading the iTube2 is a time intense task to behold. Plus, we have our R&D plates full. 2020 is going to be big! :)
4.4mm is indeed the latest version, being offered alongside (not replacing) the 2.5mm. The newer 4.4mm balanced headphone output version is slightly more powerful with 4200mW @ 16ohms and has allegedly has "improved circuit design for better sonics and stability." https://bloomaudio.com/collections/...c-solid-state-tube-headphone-amp-and-streamer
Thank you, what you have wrote is correct :)
@Gippy
Thanks, but that is for the Pro iDSD, not the Pro iCAN. I'm from Canada and had a NYC friend purchase the Pro iCAN standard version for me. However, if the 4.4mm version is available at the same price, I'm considering asking that person to exchange the unit. I'm asking this because nowhere is there any information the Pro iCAN 4.4.

It's kind of suspicious that the Pro iDSD 4.4 costs $250 more, when a 2.5->4.4 adapter costs $20. That's why I'm wondering if the Pro iCAN 4.4 also has better specs.
We upgraded the Pro iDSD with 4.4mm but not the Pro iCAN. The latest Pro iDSD is a bit pricier, not only due to its socket rework, but its specs have changed as well.
