CanJam at RMAF 2014 impressions

Oh yeah--I need to post here that I won the big discount from Vinnie Rossi for one of his amazing new LIO systems, and we've transacted.  A huge shout-out to Vinnie for his generosity and friendliness, and to the CanJam organizers for putting together the SHaG contest.  I'm definitely playing again next year if I get to attend.

Hi muziq,

Thank you - and thanks to everyone who visited our table at CanJam!  Looking forward to next year!

All the best,

Vinnie

I think the HOT is a great product sound wise and a good first effort. they just need to address the physical design to make it more user friendly and avoid potential issues due to the weight and force at the HOT/Amp connection.

that's precisely the first-thing I thought when I started using the HOT - and told Ted!

So getting to share that someone else thinks the same thing - completely independent of my input,
is VERY valuable. ThanX!

I want them to get involved in the Head-Fi community too - told them they need to start corresponding with us directly here.

Do you think they would do something about redesign it?
If they replace the 1/4" stem out of the cylinder with a short OCC copper pigtail and a good TRS plug at the end I will buy it again.

Ted told me they're working on a couple of new designs - so yeah I expect them to take our feedback seriously!
Especially since feedback like this  - when it comes from people that genuinely enjoy the sonic attributes of the tweak, but see other issues as a deal-breaker!!

I can't believe they aren't! It is beyond foolish to not directly engage with your customer base where it is they do their research and make purchasing decisions. There is an old adage in sales, when the customer is talking, the customer is buying. This is site is like free marketing research. HiFi Man got very engaged with the community and while it may be cumbersome at times to do, they took plenty of direct suggestions form members here and hit it out of the park with the HE 560 (some quality control issues aside).

If you were at RMAF and had a chance to visit the atrium outside of CanJam you might recognize what appeared in my mailbox today.

This particular one is terminated for the MrSpeakers Alpha Dogs. I'm really looking forward to testing it. Unfortunately I'm leaving the country tomorrow so it'll have to wait until I return.

Yeah, they were nice. Did feel a little creepy with the video camera recording you during the sessions though.

Actually, there was another vendor that did that as well up in "secret chamber"...

I told them not to video tape me when I tried them.  Don't like being in front of the camera...

Ha! I just pulled my hoodie up, threw my hand in front of the camera and yelled "no comment!" while running to my black SUV with my lawyer. That's what they always do on TV right?

I threatened to open them up and let all the unicorn horn powder out if they taped me.....

This is still a prototype version, it's not in production yet. I too am interested in the dongle to see what it does for the headphones in my collection. Then I could test it with my other headphones. As I recall, MIT plans to make a few models of the Vero cable for specific headphones/brands and the dongle will be for all of the rest.
