So what do you think?
I have a Headroom Desktop Amp on backorder, and I have asked to cancel it.
It was the maxed out version.

Anyway, started reading about the Emmeline Raptor by Ray Samuels, and I think I am going to take a tumble with tubes (rolling, get it???)
Any thoughts, opinions?
Going to use it as the Amp end of a Music Hall CD25.2, Senn 650 with Cardas cables.
It has passed some nice reviews in the forums, just need some direct assistance.
Thanks a whole lot!!

if you can hold out a month yu may want to consider going to the south florida meet you will be able to hear an incredible amount of amps in a day. This may wind up saving you from buying and selling a few amps and get you closer to waht you like.

Don't forget the Singlepower line of tube amps, and I may be wrong but it seams like the singlepower respond more to tube rolling and we have so much support from guys here as far as what tubes to use and Mikhail has made some cool tube addapters so we can not only try varrients of a say 5687 tubes we can now use many different tubes 5687 6SN7 6bx7 6bl7 and on and on so you can tune your amp to your equiptment and ears. I hope this is the kind of info you were looking for.

Raptor with the Senn 650 is just a bad idea in my experience. The Raptor that I listened to definitely accentuated the bass of the Senn 650 to a distracting level. I greatly prefer the Rudi RP5.1 tube wise and the HeadAmp line even more so for the Senn 650.

I've never heard a SinglePower amp so no comment there.

The above suggestion does seem like rather good advice. Although Head-Fi meets are not the best place to really audition equipment, they are great places to go to see and hear many of the various choices out there that one might otherwise overlook or never get to try.

Putting your Headroom order on "hold" until then is also quite wise since you seem to rather unsure about how you want to proceed.

I will say that I use a similar setup (Headroom Desktop with 2006 Max module and stepped attenuator, Headroom Desktop Power Supply, Sennheiser HD650 with Cardas cable and a Sony SACD player) and I'm very pleased with the sound - it's clean, quiet and very detailed.

I should add that I'm just not a tube guy. It's not that I have anything against tubes, it's just that I've never gotten into them and I'm not about to start now. But if you would like to go that route, by all means, please do and have fun. You'll get plenty of help and support from fellow tube lovers here at Head-Fi!

Meets aren't ideal for critical listening, but they do provide a solid starting point and direction. You should bring your own rig such as your source, cables, headphones and just swap out amps (with owner’s approval first). Also select music you are most familiar with and use it throughout the comparison.
