Hello everyone,

Lately I've been tinkering with idea of Streaming my CD collection and the Squeezebox seems to fit the bill perfectly.

I was wondering if any Canadians have ordered directly from Slimdevices? I noticed that the only shipping option was UPS and I have had no luck with them in the past.

If you have ordered from them have you had any fees/customs/taxes etc.. to deal with?

Thanks everybody!

Why do you want to order directly? With the exchange rate, shipping and possible duty you're better off picking one up from a brick and mortar.

With the sale on right now, and Promo Code with Express Shipping, it comes to $261.35 USD, I get $295.08 CAD from XE.COM with my provinces GST/PST taxes in i figure $340 CAD.

But you never know with UPS. I've been charged 50$ on about 60$ worth of goods before!

So long as you use UPS Express (the fastest one), you'll only get charged $5 + taxes. If you go with anything else UPS, you'll get charged ~$60 in duties alone, plus taxes.

I used UPS Express (they had a free UPS Express shipping promotion two years ago) and paid $60 at the doorstep including taxes.

Pay a bit more on shipping and get UPS Express (not ground). There is no brokerage charge on express from either UPS or Fedex.

At $340 CAD your basically saving the cost of the GST/PST.
If you want to save on the shipping use standard UPS. When your parcel arrives at UPS terminal - go down, pick up the paperwork and take it to a Canada Customs office, they'll charge you GST/PST and rubber stamp it. Then go back to UPS and claim your parcel. I know it sounds complicated but where I live the UPS terminal and Customs office are only a few blocks distance and there's usually no wait.

I just bought mine three weeks ago from an online importer based in Ontario. I paid about $380 including shipping/taxes etc. Best audio purchase I've made in years, I LOVE it. PM me if you want the info on the importer that I used.

What paperwork do you need exactly? Last time this happened I had no idea what I needed exactly and unfortunately the guy delivering it to me didn't speak english well enough to understand my attempt at an explanation.

I haven't done this for a while so I don't remember the exact documents(BOL, etc) but when you go to the terminal they'll know what to give you.
