Thinking about buying the new Ipod Video.
Can I only watch video that I buy off of Itunes on the IPOD, or can I use other video sources as well?

DVDFab works great. Be sure to download the CSS version or you wont be able to rip your encrypted movies. I've only been using it for a week, but I've been very happy. There is a 30 day trial too, so you can give it a very thorough workout before you decide whether you want to buy.

Handbrake is what I use too. For tricky DVD's, I use MacTheRipper first (for macs obviously!) for extracting to the hdd first, then encode to ipod using handbrake.

No!
Videos can only be uploaded to the iPod through iTunes, and iTunes don't support DVD ripping/compression. Hence you need at least two applications...
