Hi, Head-fiers.

I have OBH-11Se + Senn HD-600, and now looking for

cables for a better sound.

1. cable for HD 600

2. cable to connect Sony CDP-XE270 CD player and OBH-11SE.

As you can see, the systems are not expensive,

so I'm looking for a resonable but good matching, which

is of course not an easy business...^^;;

I live in Germany, So it would be great if there are someone who

knows the informations in Germany.

Hi goodcook.

"Hello and sorry about your wallet!"

Since you didn't state a price range I'll try to give you some general ideas on some interconnects (CD Player to Amp).

-You can get the "Oehlbach NF 14" for about 60€, a good sounding entry cable. Maybe a bit on the warm sound.

-A step up is the "Kimber PBJ" for around 100€. a definate improvement over the Oehlbach. More or less neutral sounding.
-And also the "Cardas Crosslink" for 100€. Warmer sounding than the PBJ. I like the Kimber more.

-For 180€ you can get the really good "Van Den Hul The First Ultimate". A fast and very dynamic cable, well worth the price.
-Then there is the "Fadel Art Aero Litz" for about 170€. Also a good cable. Good details, very good soundstage.

Just for the record: I have heard all of the above mentioned cables personally. But still, those are just my impressions and oppinions.

I hope this helps. Maybe you can tell me a price range, then I could give you some more suggestions.

I have that exact same setup, and enjoy it very much with WireWorld Equinox III+ -- about $200/meter here in the states, but because it is discontinued, you can get it in some stores for $100. Not sure how much they'd cost in Germany. I was in Tokyo a month ago and was shocked to see my WireWorld Polaris III+, which retails for $295/meter here, selling for over 50,000 yen. I was flattered that they were being used in their top-line setup (Marantz SACD & amps to B&W Nautilus 802).

i have an obh-11/hd580 combo, and ive stepped up to kimber pbj. i find this setup very neutral, though a bit bright sometimes, depending on the recording.

i used to hook up my amp using monster interlink 400s, since i have a pair lying around. the sound is, well, not too good, though it can do vocals ok (and i mean vocals only). i've heard other setups using monsters, and my impression is, they sound like you source passes through an EQ with that annoying "happy face" configuration (why oh why do i see people do that with EQs all the time

For around 100€ I would pick the Kimber PBJ. I'm sure you can get it cheaper if you consider buying used.

As said by jardyman the Kimber can sound a bit bright. But I like it more than the bit laid back sound of the Cardas.

You can also consider some cheaper cable by Van Den Hul. The Van Den Huls are all very dynamic and airy.

What do you mean by "both cables"? If you also want a better replacement cable for the Senns, this will be over a 100$ alone. And if you are not talking about a replacement cable for the cans, one set of interconnects is all you need.

Maybe you can clarify this point.

Thanks, Der Wolf

I want to buy 2 cables, each of them can cost maximum $100.

1. for my Senn 600

2. Sony CDP -> OBH-11

I think your answer was about the first cable. ^^

Hi goodcok.

Well, this doesn't clear up to much...

What kind of cable do you want / need for your HD600's? If you just want to listen to it via your CDP and Amp you only need one set of interconnects. You just connect the Amp to the CD-Player via the interconnects and plug your cans in the amp normally.

I still don't get, what kind of cable you need for your headphones.

And if you mean a replacement cable for the normal cable supplied with the HD600 (cable from the earpieces to the stereo plug), then I can't really help you, as I have never heard one.

But I think a replacement for the HD600's cable will run you about 150$ (I think...) not including shipping to germany and taxes. So this would pretty much be your whole budget.

Hope this clears things up a little bit.

And my answers were all for the second cable you wanted.

Has anyone tried the Interconnect cables from Meier Audio?

Regarding aftermarket cables for the Senns, I use the Cardas and I am completely happy with them. They've made such a significant and lasting improvement in the HD-600s sound, I would not own the 600s without the Cardas cables.
I don't know if Jan can source those for you or not.

Der Wolf, where can I buy the Kimber pbj cable ?

Can I just go downtown and buy it in Lerche store with

that price, or shall I find a good condition in the internet?

If you know a good store, can you kindly inform it to me? ^^
