does it have to be used with line in?
is a DAC nessessary?

i have a dell d630 and the bass on the headphone out is weaksauce.
but i dont have any other audio out other than that plug.

so ... would it be a good idea to do this;
m-audio transit > corda move > headphones.

btw the phones i plan on getting are the a900's.
havn't received them yet so i don't know what the bass is going to be like.
but if it's not enough. do you think that setup would work?

thanks in advance.

So there's no audio out on the back of your motherboard? If so that's strange. I'd get a sound card, but for now it would work fine as a line out to your amp.

I have a SB Audigy 4 with a mini to RCA cable going to an old Sony amp. Not the most amazing setup, but it sure sounds fantastic.

nope just a 2 x 3.5mm jacks on the side. one for mic, for headphones.

theyhave lil pictures beside them.

so it would be fine to just go from :
headphone jack > corda move > headphones?

Dell Latitude D620?

I use my AV-710's HQ Alt out or Normal out > CMoy v1.03 amp > SR80's

Give it a try and see if the bass gets better.

yes its a dell latitude d630 notebook.

are the av-710's only available in a PCI interface?

i've been searching around for the last 20 mins and only found them in PCI versions.

btw whats a cmoy? a custom amp?

yeah AV-710 is PCI only. there are many USB type sound cards, many here like the EMU 0404 USB (about $200).

Click the link in my sig for pics of my custom CMoy amp. The CMoy is just a basic headphone amp, good as a intro to amps.

can the 0404 be powered through usb only? is the 0404 also considered an amp?

i'm looking for a pretty portable setup to go with my lappy.

right now i'm leaning towards the corda move as a amp/dac. apparently i can use the usb port to power the unit and feed the source through it.

Strictly for a laptop? May I recommed the hippohifi bloat? Cheaper, smaller, and lighter than a move, better dac section, weaker amp section but still pretty good.

edit, I like mine with the OPA2107 upgrade. It's only a notch or two below my separate dac and amp.
