Hi all. couple of days ago i met with a good friend of mine, and another friend of his came to a short visit. we started to talk about mp3 players,so i offered him to listen to my d2+pk2. i started playing an album for him and set the volume to 30 which is pretty high.
suddenly he started to raise the volume up to 44..45, i could hear the music really loud outside the earphones. i took the player away from him and i was very upset. i usually dont go beyon the 30+ volume and only go to 40 in extremely low volume recordings. i was really angry at him at first

, told him that he must go check his hearing or something...and that he shouldn't have done this with earphones that doesn't his! he told me he always listen to very loud volume.

what do you guys think..? i am a little upset even after two days. the pk2 sound normal but do you think that usually they can take such volumes?
if they can than maybe i am just paranoid. i just love them too much.

thx for the replies.

They should be able to handle that sort of short burst of loud music. They're not ultra sensitive or of incredibly low impedence or anything, so you should be ok. They're of more quality than to bite the dust like that, though if this over extended period of time then I would obviously be worried. The loudest I've put my PK2 was 16 on my Sony S639 though (I believe out of 30? I wouldn't know, I would never dream of putting it that high), and it handled it fine then.

Maybe your friend is a basshead and just wanted to see how much thump he can get out of it (since PK2's bass isn't weighty), but that's just a guess.

thx! i guess youre right. the pk2 are quality earphones. they should take high volume for a few seconds i guess. i don't know if he was looking for more bass..but it is obvious that he does'nt have the slitest clue abouy quality listening. he automatically raised the volume, didnt even try to listen with the volume i set for him. i know people like that, they like very high volume..think that this is what makes the music sound good.
