I have a Jasmine tube amp that got shipped from over seas and now when I turn the amp on it blew a fuse, hums very badly, crakles when the volume is up at all and the transformer? is lose as when i picked it up i felt a large weight move around inside the amp.....so i guess that i would like to to get this fixed cause its a very good sounding amp..

Thanks for your time

Hi Jason,

Did the problem exist right when you took the amp out of the box, or did it develop after some playback?

Do you have a schematic available?

The first problem I see with shipping the amp to someone to look at it is that if there's something loose inside it might become even more damaged. You might, if you feel up to it, carefully open the chassis and see what you find. Post up pictures of whatever you see, even if it looks normal to you, and see if someone can spot something.

Also, as a start you might tell us which Jasmine amp it is, I think they make several.

I would remove the cover too. Then if the transformer is loose bolt it down with a screw and nut then maybe you could send it to someone. You should remove the cover though to see what is loose inside.

Pretty hard to do for most folks so the best first step is to open it, visually inspect, take a few pictures and then ask for advice as to what it might be safe to do.

But don't use your body to discharge them, if at all possible.

ok guys I took the bottom off and tightened the transformer back up because it was very loose, so now i can ship it again and not worry about that. i will snap pics tomorrow and post them up. but when i was looking in it there did not seem to be anything too abnormal with it...

Maybe the transformer was shorting out against something.Try it now that you tightened down the transformer; quickly. Then shut it off.If you do try this BE CAREFUL.
