I am planning to get the HD600 but like to ask if my Pre amp can
drive the headphone to optimal performance.

The spec of my Pre amp is as follows:

*THD -120dB for the AD 797

*DC to 1 Mhz -3dB

*Output 27 volts

*slew rate 2000 V/us for the BUF 634

*Input noise voltage .09 V/sqr Hz and 4nV/sqr Hz for the BUF 634

*6 dB gain for the line amplifier

The HD600 has a norminal impedance of 300 ohm and 97dB SPL at 1 kHz.

Thank you.

BUF634 output stage is probably just fine. It may not be the best, but it should work. According to some the Elantec output buffers are much better, but I'm waiting on mine to arrive so I dont know how much better.
