Can I squeeze any more SQ out of my comp?

Hey all, I really despise the HP out on my comp... Onboard sound card and no DAC. I'm going through the HP out right now. Should I go through the audio-out on the back? And is there anything I can do to eke out a bit more SQ, or at least cut down on the horrendous distortion/noise that I get? BTW, I'm running FLAC files through Foobar. Tried installing ASIO4ALL, not compatible with my hardware.

Affirmative. I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you.

EDIT: I don't know what more there is to say. It's a Dell with integrade 7.1 audio, and Realtek drivers installed (from the factory. Haven't played with any settings yet.)

Very low budget. Saving up for Grado SR225. I would consider a sub-$50 solution to tide me over till I get a decent DAC. Desktop.

Chaintech AV-710, go find one and buy it

if that fails

M-Audio Revolution 5.1 or 7.1

if that fails

come back and we'll start looking at other ideas

there is nothing wrong with a $50~ budget
the AV-710 is easily within that, and I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve here and there
