Fiio A5 is having a 5.06 V Root Mean Square (RMS). HD800s has a sensitivity of 103dB/mW and impedance of 300 ohms. It would required 32mW and 3.1V RMS to achieve 118dB of loudness. Fiio A5 will certainly able to drive it to this loudness and the max it can give is 122dB theoretically

I don't even need full power in Low Gain mode.
Keep in mind your source will play a role but still, the A5 is a very powerful amp and HD800S not that hard to drive.
Bass boost adds warmth for sure. Anyway is you're concerned about the bass then you can safely skip HD800S and go for the Tesla T1 (2nd Gen).
I like the bass on HD800S as it is, but preference is key here. All in all the A5 is quite punchy in the bass even without the boost, so it surely helps with neutralish headphones.
118 dB is way to loud for any length of time. We have a hydraulic hammer that puts out 122 dB within a meter and requires hearing protection within 7 meters. You are asking for hearing loss at that volume. It can be fun to listen for a couple of songs but my ears ring with anything close to that.

well, i use high gain, full power on my 50 ohm and 96dB/1mW M1060 from my HTC 10 (slandered mobile amp power)
maybe i can tolerate high volumes more than normal, idk but i really like it.
