I was looking into modding my Music Hall CD-25 after reading this add...
http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.p...035&class&3&4&

But I have been told that a DIYer could do it allot cheaper if they had got a bulk rate for the opa627 op-amps.This my be a long shot, but if anyone could make me up a set of these that would be awesome.Let me know your price

Looks like Digikey has the 627 for $15-22 depending on grade. What exactly does this "module" entail? Any pictures of the amps in the player?

From the photos at audiogon, they look like BrownDog dual-single adaptors. They are a lot cheaper than Digikey units.

When the SOIC's are mounted on the adaptors, you can easily roll other IC's. Suchs as the opa637, ad8610, etc.

dfarina, to answer your question, yes, a DIYer could make one for you for less than the $55 quoted in that ad...though maybe not that much less, like $45 or so. I know Tangent gets busy, but he has probably the most readily available Brown Dog adaptors. He sells an AD8610 on an adaptor. Go here for his opinions of how the chips sound (search this forum as well).

So what's the difference between their $99 and their $55 version? The $55 version is just the adapter or something?

The 55 one is (as it's called here) an "opamp module" consisting of 2 OP627BP's sodered on a Brown Dog adapter. The 99 one is two of these "opamp modules".
