Can anyone confirm MP3 bookmarking on 2G shuffle?

I just got a refurb 1G shuffle and as another member mentioned the bookmarking is spotty at best. I listen to audiobooks during long walks so looking at returning this shuffle (though love the sound) and getting a new one.

If someone doesn't have experience already, could you maybe do me a big favor and click 'remember playback positiong' and 'skip when shuffling' on a longish MP3 in iTunes, and turn a 2G shuffle on and off a few times and see if it remembers your position?

Thanks.

Should anyone be interested... just got off an unreasonably long call with Apple. Although MP3 and AAC bookmarking is supporting on all other iPods, it's not on 1G and 2G shuffle. Only Audible.com (.aa) and iTunes (.mp4) purchased books are supported. There are ways to likely get around this, but it sucks Apple doesn't list it on the shuffle spec page or in iTunes.

Should anyone be interested, since .AA is MP3 based and .M4B is .M4A/AAC based, it seems just changing the extension of your audiobook MP3s to .AA and audiobook .M4As to .M4B will make the bookmarking work. Tested last night with both types and both conservations worked on the 1G model. Not sure with the 2G, but worth a try.

Cool, it should make a great podcast player. I am thinking about a refurb shuffle for my 5-10 minute walks to class.

I just renamed the extension from Finder (or Windows Explorer) then dragged it into iTunes to get it to update. You can view info on the track to verify the extension is in iTunes. Just make sure 'remember track position' is clicked on for the file (also in 'get info'). I did that before renaming extension, but I don't know if that matters.

Remember this is only necessary for the shuffle as clicking 'remember track position' is supported in MP3/AAC tracks on other iPods.
