@Currawong thanks for the brilliant review. You have such a soothing voice :)

One question I do have, and feel like it didn't come up (apologies if it did), was what you think of the Solaris compared to the Atlas. I know you said the Vega's are better for more anaemic tracks.
Are there any stark differences between the sound from the Solaris and the Atlas that are worth pointing out?

The Atlas, like the Vega, has a thundering bass which can be overwhelming, even if it is very entertaining. The Solaris is more even-sounding overall.

Having auditioned Thor II (8w) with a couple of other IEMs, this is high on my list of upgrade cable for the Solaris, no doubt it will have great synergy... the soundstage is going to be quite a treat :D

Janus D would certainly be interesting as well from the reviews I have read... not sure about the Ares II I like the upper mids the way they are with stock.
I splurged on the Eros II+ 8 wire during the black fire sale they had. Using it with the Solaris on the WM1Z I found it was a huge overall improvement over the SXC 8 I had been using.

You can climb with that 8 wire Eros II+ cable, do you know that?
Joke aside, I love the looks of Eros. I had the first version but I sold it because of oxidation. It's sound was quite impressive.

Even my friend is waiting for Solaris vs Faudio Major vs the new JVC flagship

On JVC FW10000 versus Solaris, I’ll soon be able to update my Solaris review as I just purchased one and it should ship tomorrow :D

Faudio Major to me was pretty good for vocals but its bass, treble were not very present. Seemed something was missing , but vocals were nice.

DD and BAs - what to use? Low gain or High Gain??

I am revisiting the CA stock foam tips today and quite enjoying them.
Low gain.. have noise with current gear...

Just re listening to old Flac track, Steely Dan - AJA album... with current set up (X5iii +E12a) - UAPP - Solaris w. Ref8. Is the only black background songs that I have listen.... what a happy moment... IMO, this is show that SOLARIS is really need a good source (DAP, Songs file etc).
Was planning to convert to DSD, just curios though...

Is really depend on the source (DAP/AMP/File size)... If the music have bass, Solaris with ref8 can deliver it in detail like Vega, IMO...

If you prefer bass,IMO, I believe Copper / high pure copper will be your go to... but again, if there are some one in your area have some thing that you like, better talk to him to demo test with the gear you have... Believe your ear... I dont like boomy Bass, Hard punch, but I like it detail and good seperation with the sub...

Super litz is good cable, quite a cable porn for me...

I am also using solaris with ref 8 cable, everything else is so nice but I also think it reduced the bass a little bit (both punch and quantity). I for one likes a little bit more bass down there, but I don't like the bass of Vega, IE800 bass was perfect for me...
Oh, forgot to mention the background hiss... solaris hiss so much using ref 8...

Trying SOLARIS with Campfire Audio Litz Copper Cable from POLARIS stock Cable.

quick Impression :
Bass : detail Rumble, hard punch than SOLARIS (James Blake - Limit to your love, Billie Ellish - COPYCAT)
MID : I found the mid recess, sub mid still there (JT- midnight summer Jam)
High : IMO, almost no sparkle, and less detail
SOUNDSTAGE : this I realize quickly that is Very Narrow... I feel the 3D imaging is less (Yosi Horikawa - bubble). I feel the airness become thin...

Again, this is my impression, I like the SS of SOLARIS with Copper cable for the low freq segment.. but not my kind of taste in my ear.. and YES, you are right, the Bass is not appealing using ref8

YES, ref8 create noise, but also bring detail and SS... as I wrote before, with my limitation of gear, I found certain music file can make SOLARIS shine.. so either elevate the gear, or embrace the situation... hehehe.. IMO.. Thank you
edit : IMO, my ear wants SOLARIS with Natural or tend to Bright DAP... so that's probably my taste of Bass is different.. So my biggest enemy is Noise Background....

Edit : so I dont post to much, and annoy people. I just edit my additional impression :
Doing swap cable between Copper, Super Litz and Ref8...
I found that Copper has the lowest noise background (with my current gear). But the 3D imaging became flat...
What I mean, if you can hear something drop that in front of you around 2 meter and something drop 3 meter behind, you can spot that nicely using ref8 dan super Litz in SOLARIS.

Cable porn.... that Black copper cable suited nicely with Solaris
