These are my first high end headphones i'm not really sure how to describe it, its definitely flatter, much less crisp, the bass is not as clear on my phone i'm able to hear more of the sounds on my computer than on my iPhone. It's just so much more clear on the computer. Not sure if this would have an impact but i'm using one of the newer iPhones forcing me to use the headphone jack adapters that come with the phone.

Why wouldn't they sound better? Plug them into a dedicated amp and DAC, and they'll sound even better.

Get a decent amp and dac and you'll be gobsmacked.
