Looking forward to @Jackpot77 's Solaris 2020 comments...his impressions were instrumental in me pursuing Solaris OG last year when I was an audiophile pup.
How much does a pup grow in 1 year? :)

Thanks for your photos. I really enjoy your blog!

Is the Andromeda 2020 a slight different shade of green compared to the earlier models?

okie dokie. Hopefully these are more helpful.

I think the pictures i posted on the Ara here don’t really show the Andromeda color (not the focus)....so...

Waiting for Andromeda Gold & Ara comparisons. Should have AG in a day or two & Ara possibly on the horizon.

“Of note, the prominent 8-10KHz peaks are not nearly as grating on the ears as my measurements would suggest, this is likely due to resonances in my measurement system rather than reflecting any peaks on the Ara itself.”

Here we go! So, Solaris 2020 is not just 20% smaller, but also 25% lighter. And while the insertion depth feels similar, they don't stick out as much due to the shape of the new shell and how they fit more flush inside my ears (YMMV). I know the angle is slightly different, but still:

Exactly the picture I wanted to see. How the new smaller 2020 actually looks when sat in the ear. Sometimes 20% is hard to quantify. Thanks twister6. Now is it going to be this or the Tia trio? Decisions, decisions!

This might help - finding the new Solaris 2020 to have a much improved fit for my ears ) and I didn't have a major issue with the OG version). So much so that I'm not using my custom tips on the new version.

Also note the way the new heat shrink moulding on the cables sits on the ear - another significant ergonomic improvement on the old memory wire SuperLitz cable.

Looking forward to @Jackpot77 's Solaris 2020 comments...his impressions were instrumental in me pursuing Solaris OG last year when I was an audiophile pup.

Thanks man - glad my insane ramblings are useful to someone! Impressions will hopefully be posted at some point this weekend, my 6 month old child permitting - had them playing for a while now but will burn them in fully before the full review, if just to remove that from the equation.

Knee jerk impression: ever so slightly more weight in the mid bass, a slight push in the midrange around the vocals, slightly more laid back and less sparkly than the OG. Some of this week be due to my use of the CA foamies on the 2020 and custom tips on the OG, so will do some proper A/B with the same tips for the full review.

It seems to be in line with what people have written about the SE - a slight tweak in tuning (which I think is an improvement for my preferences), but still unmistakably a Solaris. It still had that beautiful organic tone and sense of substance to the low bass, and the large note and stage size.

As @glassmonkey said earlier, the Sola were my favourite IEM. Unless something drastic happens, the 2020 will be replacing them at the top of the pile - the better ergonomics, improved cable comfort and slight extra weight through the bass and mids take it just that few % further up my personal preference wishlist. It still isn't a basshead IEM and is not an ultra-detail monster, but for musicality it is pretty much spot on fit my personal tastes.
