I have written about this in this thread before, but my only issue with the Andromedas (that I owned for about 2 years) had always been that my ears heard something that I found „in the way“ between the bass tones and lower mids. Something that, at least to me, sounds a little „blown up“, too bloomy, with the result that some sounds that I hear seperatly with other earphones, get smeared together. I know that this stands in total contrast to the otherwise amazing separation and clearness of the Andromeda, that I admit, especially in the higher tones. Also, I must add that I listen to a lot of slower experimental electronic music and trip hop (so not classic EDM) that might be special in this regard. I never had this issue with rock or acustic music, for example.
Interestingly enough, I have just purchased an Oriolus Mk2, and even though it is well known to have quite a bit of midbass, I don’t hear the same issue that I have with the Andromeda...
So the other day I compared the graphes of the two (see pictures above) and I guess I found evidence of what I am hearing: While the Oriolusses graph clearly declines between 80 and 250 Hz, the Andromeda stays linear or is even rising a bit in this area! Another earphone that I really like is the VE8. To me, it has an overall very similar tonality to the Andromeda, but without that issue, too. Comparing the graphs again, I realized it is also declining between 80 and 250 Hz!
So I guess my ears are somehow sensible in that area or it’s just my personal preference. It seems that there are not too many people who have the same issue with Andromeda- but I‘ d be very interested to know if there are some more?
