Hey all, new here.
I searched the web for forums on the 1812.
I typed such words as "why do I love the 1812 Overture"
and "how does the 1812 Overture affect people"

I have gotten pretty much nowhere.

odd.

I have been so deeply affected by this piece and wish to discuss it with others.
After a lifetime of loving it, I finally got to see it performed this past summer by the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Mind blowing.

would love some input, new friends, etc.

Be careful how much volume you use. The powerful bass on some recordings of the 1812 Overture when played at a loud volume might damage headphones or your ears. The use of cannons as musical instruments is somewhat unique.

I guess you crave that deep bass. I guess you probably also love the Bach Toccata and Fugue for organ in D minor, BWV 565. which also has extremely strong low bass energy, however in this case it is from an organ. I love deep bass produced by an organ.

I just remembered there is also Beethoven's Wellington's Victory, which uses muskets and other artillery as musical instruments.

Because it's crazy, the good crazy. It's absolutely intense and invigorating. Not a word spoken and the story is told of the invading Napoleon army being turned back by the Russians victorious having fought valiantly. It's a piece of work that attacks the senses, a delicate and gentle piece of work this is not. Intensity, even when the orchestra plays down you can still feel the escalation building towards another conflict. Intense. It's just intense.
