Are there any "good/great" portable speakers?
I've been lurking on this board for awhile now, but it doesn't seem like there are portable speakers that meet the high standards of the audiophiles on this board. In any event, can you help me with the following?
For several years, I've been looking for a portable speaker system that meets the following criteria.
*good sound with sufficient volume and clarity for outdoors (picnic, etc.). but not overly loud
*run for at least six hours (preferably on rechargeable batteries)
*with subwoofer for some bass
*as compact and lightweight as possible
*easy to use/set up (with MP3 or CD player as music source)
*"reasonably" priced
I have both the Cambridge Soundworks "in the bag" system and the Model Twelve. They've been "okay," and because of the subwoofers, provide some bass that the really small speakers (eg JBL On Tour) don't have.
What's in the market that's better? Thanks for any help/ideas.
