And it ain't even burned in yet.

It's fuller and sounds better! But hey, my LD2 is using stock tubes....

But the C.A. utilizes a seperate single ended class-A headphone driver....

Bump. This is with my 32 ohm Grados so I bet the LD doesn't have the proper current drive for em. Gain switches don't change the SQ, only volume level.

God forbid anyone should bash Little Dot on head-fi......

The LD should have more than enough power to drive Grados. Maybe it is just a preference thing. I'm not familiar with the Cambridge product, so I can't say whether or not it should be that good.

Well, 75 more hours of burn-in (call me crazy) and all my Little Dots are set aside for good.

This thing sounds UNREAL with Grados. Someone back me up here!

Good synergy? Then stick with it. It's your ears and your wallet.

Hmmmmm I have a Cambridge 540R V2 Surround Receiver . I never tried the headphone jack on it. Maybe I'll give it a try...

Put some decent NOS tubes (drivers) in the LD2 and try that comparison again.....of course the Cambridge might just be a great match for the Grados..as always sound and perception are individual subjective tastes....is the LD a MK 2 or the older LD 2 ++ ?

Peete.

Not so sure. Their current output isnt very high AFAIK. Loudness doesnt equal power.

I have a RadioShack , Realistic STA-2100D reciever, made for RadioShack in the early 1980's by Pioneer.
The headphone section sounds full and natural and great with Grados too.
I can believe the Cambridge sounds as good as other popular competition out there.

I have a Marantz PM6002 which I'd probably go with being similar sounding to the CA 640 v2, on the same level anyway (despite being cheaper) and the LD MK III with EF92/EF91 tubes off of eBay sounds better to my ears on my Grado SR225s and now on my newly purchased HD650s it is even more clearly to my liking (especially with Jazz). The Marantz sounds good though, but I like the additional "tubeyness" that the LD MK III gives.

Sorry to bump such an old thread but I am also looking at purchasing the Marantz PM6002 or the CA 540 (also has a headamp module as 640) for use with 650, k701, 595 headphones - I already have a yamaha surround receiver but the headphone output has bass that is too floppy - though as a ss amp for headphone use it wasn't too bad. would these integrateds give me the 95 percent quality of say a lehmann cube linear for example. Any comments on this subject matter?

OTL's usually have problems giving enough bass with low-impedamce cans. So your Cambridge Audio actually kills you with your unwillinges to study the basics.
