We've seen reviews about Orpheuses, CD3000s, HD650s, and those high end stax and grados... heaps of them scattering all over the forum..
but why there is no single in-depth review about stock-earbuds that come with your sony discman ?

im sure it will be fun, especially if the experts can, for a change, make an in-depth review about stock earbuds, talking about the low frequency, the highs, the soundstage, decays, etc etc... see what they can come up with.

why dont you plug your stock earbuds to those high end amps and start a review about it ?

anyone wanna start replying by making a review ?

Aren't reviews typically about things you buy, rather than get free?

Otherwise I don't see the point (except as some kind of silly joke).

But that would involve the effort of opening their packing!

I actually did this once.
I have like 15 different pairs of stock earbuds, from things ranging from mini radios to gameboy advance value packs.
They all sounded bad, obviously, but every one of them in a different way!
I'd review them, but only like two of them had manufacturer names.

I don't think its really worth the effort, except as a parody (which in the right hands could be very amusing). People on here know they suck and have no intention of using them. All you have to do is listen for 3 seconds to know they are bad in just about every way. Maybe some are better than others but I'd be surprised if any are worth using, except one....

The only "stock" phones I'm aware of that are any good are the Sennheiser MX-300's that come with the Rio Karma. "Stock" is in quotes because they are simply supplying an after-market phone with the player.

Personally, I'd rather have the manufacturers not supply them at all if it adds to the cost, but since they do I'd want them to be as cheap as possible. I think the companies are basically saying - here are some headphones so we are not selling an "unusable" as-is product. (I wonder how much headphones add to the cost - maybe they are listed on a parts list somewhere - imagine someone paying for a new set of stock cans!

I bet it happens).

I think its ironic that they go through all the trouble to make a music player with all these great features, and then give you an accessory that detracts from the quality in a big way. On the other hand, the crappy phones (hopefully) don't add much to the cost and we get to choose what we listen through.

Of course it happens. Most iPod users would rather die than be seen in anything other than apple earphones.

Yeah those white cords sure are cool.

I think I'll paint my KSC-35 cords white so I feel like I'm part of the crowd. (nah, then people would assume I have an ipod - can't let THAT happen!

My Creative earbuds have the iPodish cord thing.. only it's F style cord. The earbuds are so big... they're like 18 mm wide... could jam it into my ear, so I wouldn't know how good they were.

I wish these companies didn't give free phones. Just costs them more money, and gets me more trash.
They should give out other free stuff other than crappy phones... like stuffed plushies and the like.
