Nice video! Such a subjective hobby though.
This is one of the most interesting vintage audio videos I’ve watched - Bill Neumann, DUAL turntables

Going to be following and reading though this thread to learn some new information.
I recently got a Marantz 2218 recapped and all done up for a great price. The sound with my ZMF's blew me away for $400.
After I upgrade my turntable and phono amp I might be in the market for a 2265 or 70.

Excellent -- even the baby Marantz's from the late 60's through (or almost through) the 1970's are sweet. If properly working the 2218 should already have a quality phono section. It was required of all good receivers during that era, as LP's were the primary quality source of music fed to these receivers in their time.
However start saving your coin now if you want to upgrade to a properly functioning 2265 or 70. The mid and upper line Marantz's from this era command a significant premium over both their lowest powered brethren and (in addition) over almost other well respected brands from that era with comparable power specs.

I'm lucky enough to have two very good places that sell vintage gear by me and one of them has two 2270's and oooh that is a pretty price. The lights though... those blue lights lol.Excellent -- even the baby Marantz's from the late 60's through (or almost through) the 1970's are sweet. I'm learning about a bunch of different receivers I should be on the lookout for. Sansui, Mcintosh, Yamaha.. ect. I'm a sucker for the way they all look.

Love you parts choice, should be very pleasing and resolving sound. Amtrans are probably best sounding carbon resistors around. Enjoy your amp.

Holy crap. Didn't know there was a topic like this here.
I started in this world this year with an Ibasso Dx 160, a Fiio K7 and 3 sets of headphones (Hifiman HE400se, Audiosense Dt200 and Thieaudio Legacy 4), and suddenly got the itch to get some vintage receiver, so i got months ago 3 Onkyo receivers; Tx-2500, Tx-3000 and Tx4500.
The Tx-4500 it's the best sounding of the three, and i think those Onkyo Tx-xx00 models are on par or better than Marantz, Pioneer or Sansui models with similar specs.
A picture of two of them, the Tx-3000 it's on service.

I see a P-Mount Technics turntable. What cartridge is mounted on it?

Thanks, man!

Correct, it's an Audiotechnica Slt96e cartdrige.

I'm craving for that model, and the Tx-8500, but they are really hard to find in my country and the prices are going up everyday.

I got a silly one as I’m newer to vintage gear.
If I get an amp recapped and all fixed up is there a suggested maintenance time where I should bring it into a shop or am I good for a bit?
