Cables for akg q 701?

cut the cable down to the size you want!
If I remember, it's just Mini-XLR, so EK300 or EK500 may be more to your needs, if you need shorter or wish to have a non-stock cable, then I'm sure you'll also find customer cables in a variety of lengths.

Not from AKG that i'm aware of unless it's for the AKG K240 Studio.

Zombie_X could probably make you one. Here is where I got the one i'm using:

So far I really like it and you can get it in any size. They also have a 1/4" plug version.

Wiring those Mini-XLRs is such a pain. I hope you have a vise or three hands.
I need to get one of those Panavise thingys and better vision or something. It doesn't help that the wire I used was too thick.

I could have sworn the wiring on the Q701 was backwards or something. Can't remember the exact wiring, but it's on their webpage.

Making an HD-600 cable is stupid easy for me compared to making a Q701 cable.

Mogami and Canare Starquad is what i'd suggest for the Q701. Canare might be too warm for some.

I fund the TQ-FL connector directly from the Taiwan manufactor, at http://www.soundplugtw.com/index.php?option=product&lang=en&task=pageinfo&id=10&belongid=9&index=0 to work much better compare to the TA3F - Switchcraft connector, as well I want to try out the new connector from Neutrik.

Right now I'm testing new cables, like the Sommer Cable Galileo 238, and the Klotz CM5000.

In this case here is a few options...

1. http://www.moon-audio.com/akg-k702.html

2. http://apuresound.com/images/cables/v3/k701/

3. http://www.zombie-x.com/zxac

I want to add that I don't have any experience with those cables, just looks to me most exotic cables.

Find someone here on Head Fi that can re-terminate your cable for you. Send that 20 foot one to them. Have them chop it down to whatever length and simply re-terminate the end with the 3.5mm and use your adapter as normal. Then you don't even fool with the pin side of the cord. Simple solution.

Very best,

so k701, q701, and k702 all use the same cable right?

K701 is hard-wired, but yes, they all use the same (almost) cable.  K702 and Q701 use the same mini XLR connectors for detachment.
