What's the best cable for HD650 ? Zu, Equinox, Cardas or others ? From what I have read here, it seemed Zu Mobius is the winner.

My amp is MF x-can v3, source is a home Sony 5-disc changer. I listen to game music, such as Metal Gear, Final Fantasy and Silent Hill. The other passion is movie scores eg., Gladiator, The Lord of The Rings, Kingdom of Heaven and The Piano.

Thanks.

There are a number of threads about this issue, with many different opinions. Take a look at:

I have tried Cardas, Equinox, and Moon Audio Silver Dragon, with the Silver Dragon being my definitive favorite. It adds (or lets through) more sparkle which I find to be the perfect complement for this headphone.

By the way...welcome to Head-Fi!

zu, equinox, and moon audio are all quality cables. can't go wrong with any of them.

One thing to be aware of with cables is that for instance, with the Equinox, if you look down while wearing the headphones, the plugs can dig into your chest because the connection into the headphone is stiff for about two inches.

What I'm saying is that it isn't as comfortable as having a flexible lead. That was the one thing I felt negative about the Equinox. Sound is absolutely fine though.

I agree with the above statement. I have a Moon cable (Silver Dragon v2) and it makes the highs more crisp and removes the veil. Any cable, other than the stock would be an improvement.

In my opinion, I cannot see how there could be much of an improvement over the Equinox. This thing is simply amazing!
If the other named above are better than the Equinox, I would be shocked!
I have not heard any of the others except for the Cardas.

Zu and SD add more sparkle over Equinox. Equinox changes the Senns signature the least, just enhances it. So they all great, depends what are you looking for in recabling.

I have Zu cables and power cords in my setup and the company is located in my city here in Utah. I picked up my cables in person and was able to tour the facility and talk to several of the employees. From a standpoint of satisfaction/return policy and that they are WONDERFUL people to work with...I recommend ZU...plus all the raving from other folks using their products.

I will probably go with Zu Mobius then, a bit more treble wouldn't hurt. Those cables aren't cheap, I can pay a bit more to buy another pair of headphones but I only want one at this time.

Is Audio-Technica ATH-W5000 considered a step up from Sennheiser HD650 ?

Can't go wrong with Zu.
W5000 is more like a side step. Has better details, soundstage, more accurate and tight bass, very fast, but overall sounds thinner and brighter in comparison.
Senns provide fuller and more relaxed sound.
