you won't see anything except perhaps a slight distortion on a square wave (rise/fall times)

Check eric343 he used a Time Domain Reflectometer to test cables.

I don't listen to music with test equipment, I use my ears so test measurements are basically meaningless. Test data is test data- the proof is in the listening.

I would figure it is the other way around. Its especially easier to sell someone a fancier cable when you can prove to them by some statistic that it is better, even if it will make no audible difference, they will make one in their mind for you.

Analysis Plus does that, check their adds in Stereophile.

There are audible differences. Im sure people can attest to that from the atlanta meet.

I have passed blind folded tests with cables Ive made 100% success, sound signatures are too apparent to NOT notice a difference.

As in a 20+ trial test following proper ABX procedure?

This is a DBT-free website. We don't debate whether cable differences are real/measureable/imaginary, it's not allowed because it always ends in too much yelling.

Well then I am curious to know what the scientific differences are.

Monday marks my last week at work... maybe I'll run some cables through a $50,000 S-parameter network/impedance analyzer. 5Hz - 200MHz on the old HP, 100kHz - 1.8Ghz on the new HP/Agilent, 100kHz - 3.4GHz on the new Rhode & Schwartz...

I don't have many audio cables with me, though. Only a Straightwire mini-mini that came with the Total BitHead.

LOL, yes. I found the only way to have a discussion on DBT, is to have a thread with a test that is similar, yet different from a true DBT, and no one is allowed to talk about it until the test is done.

So essentially, we are allowed to do DBT's as long as we don't talk about it in this forum.

Heheh, and no brand name cables were used either, so it is more of a materials test than anything.

I think brand loyalty often gets arguments really heated as well.

...skeptics who want to prove that cables all sound the same don't have expensive cables ^_^;;

Once upon a time I believed that cables made a difference. Then I blind tested a pair of $1500 copper VD Nite ICs and some $200 silver interconnects and discovered that I could not determine the slightest difference between the two. I didn't even bother with DBT because even when I knew which interconnect I was listening to there just wasn't any difference. BTW - the only variable was the interconnect, as I have a source with dual parallel outputs and an amp with dual inputs.

Maybe I don't have golden ears, and that's fine because I don't really give a ***** anymore. I'm glad I was able to quit wasting money on this stuff.
