I saw this article on www.lifehacker.com on how to wind the cords on earbuds to keep them from tangling. I tried it last night and it worked really well.

She uses the same technique (called butterflying) to create mini balls of yarn that don’t knot and can just be pulled on to get more yarn. Neat.

I was skeptical, but it works very nicely, especially with the thin, flexible Westone cable. It pulls apart quickly and easily, eliminating annoying knottage.

I didn't believe it either at first, but the technique works really well. Not only does the cable not tangle, it also doesn't twist up.

I modified it for using full size cans. Simply hang the headphones on your wrist. Next make the "hang loose" hand gesture by extending your thumb and pinky finger and wrap the cord around those fingers in a figure 8 pattern.

A nifty tip. I also find that I eliminate 90% of my knots by sliding the clip all the way up to the ends (bringing the two earbuds together) before coiling.

Also, Gino, the iM716 pod ended up in the center (between my fingers) and didn't complicate the untangle process. I was a little clunky though.
