cable mod (a900 and general)

im planning on shortening the cable of my audio technica a900 because im only using them on the go.
where is the best place to cut the cable?
how do i open them (if needed)
any help would be nice, thanks

I'm no help for you as I don't monkey with things like that, and of course you're free to do as you please, but I wouldn't do it if you don't plan on keeping them forever- your resale value will go instantly to NULL if you chop the cord.
