I have a basic cable that I found in my drawer for this but I am wondering if a better cable will enhance the sound quality? The cable I have works but I dont know where it is from, etc. I listen to GRAD Rs1 and headroom micro amp. Sounds good, but just wondering if the cable can be a weak link, and if a new one/better one will make a difference. If so are there any recommendations for such a cable?

Cables are a big debate point. I use cheap ones myself. Over a short distance, I don't think it makes much of a difference.

But then again, some people believe heavily in the importance of cables even for mini to minis or even the 1" in a lod.

FiNoobie, the only way to find out if it makes a difference to you is to try one out. I have made over half a dozen mini to mini's (ofc copper, shielded ofc copper, mundorf silver/gold, silver plated copper, shielded silver plated copper, cryo'd up-occ copper) out of different materials and have concluded that I cannot hear a difference. However, many people who have heard cables made from the same materials that I used have gained improvements in the sound of their equipment.

The most significant cable to replace is the headphone cable, in my opinion. That's the one I am most able to hear differences between.
