hi

my input source is macbook pro, mostly jazz vocal and classical stuff,

wondering which DAC would be better,
the dacmagic runs about 420$CAD,
while the DACtilus with its q-psu run about 1200$CAD

for the money, obviously dacmagic seems ALOT BETTER DEAL~
but i'm planning to get heed canamp as well for my K702,
seeing how the DACtilus will stack nicely with canamp,
i kinda like things all looking the same set and everything...

i read some review saying how the DACtilus is not as detailed but smoother, while the DacMagic does everything slightly above average...

just wondering if any experts here heard both and can give any recommendation....

thank you very much

Heed DACtilus is really a 16 bit DAC , i.e it's performance is exactly what you expect from a 16 bit system no better no worse, that it can receive 24 bits indicates that sometimes 8 bits are getting lost somewhere

- truncation perhaps...

Frequency response (3 Hz – 21 kHz): +/-0.5 dB
THD (at 0 dB, 1 kHz): 0.09 % (a bit high frankly)
Dynamic range: 96 dB
S/N.: 96dB (A-weighted)

It's not Vs the DacMagic, but I wrote a review of the Dactilus recently that might help you decide:

Additionally, I've compared the DacMagic against the Pico once in the past and while it's certainly faster and more detailed, IMO it's also slightly harsher-sounding and more "digital". Although I was later told that could be because the USB input of the DacMagic is apparently not well implemented.
