Hello! It's me Felix Back with the Review of the c-Jays that i received!

It isn't the most Detailed and complicated review, as i put everything into "ENGLISH" which everyone can understand! Hope you guys and Girls like the Review! Also remember, this is a pre-production model, so there may be a slight variation from the mass production model!

I added Lots of pics too!

Packaging:
I have to admit, it's once again, one of the best looking packaging, though it may be simple, it's really nice looking, it's prettymuch a rectangular box that's gloassy and clear and colourless, with the headphones inside glaring at you saying "OPEN! OPEN! OPEN THE BOX!" It's just so nice. The Packaging is not thing and cheap, it's thicker plastic, with the top double sided taped shut.

Pictures to Start off with!

Opening the box! and checking out the contents!

The Earphones, rest on a thick piece of foam, with the wires going to the back.

YAY ONTO SOUND QUALITY!

(Small Pads):
With these one, the highs are Crisp Clear, nice to listen. though a bit stabby, if you get what i'm sayng. Same with the mids' very accurate, very rich, but a bit on the bright side and once again stabby stabby. Lows, like it says, HEART THUMP THUMP THUMP, it's very very powerful with these little ones on, though it's not as smoothed out as the others, it's still accurate and precise.

(Medium Pads)
Still Very Very Clear, a bit smoother and softer, darker and not as "STABBY STABBY" to the ears. Everything is a bit more mellow and smoother. The frequencies are more balanced and it doesn't seem like the headphones are tipped to either the high or lows. Overall, it's the best to keep on for the Majority of music as it can cover almost every genre of music.

(Large Pads)
you know, i swear with these on, these sound like they're going above 20Khz, i swear, these things sound like they can go soooo high with these on, still very very clear highs, though less clear than the medium and small pads, and slightly muffled, it's still awesome to listen to. SoundStage Wise, like it says, widest soundstage of all, infact A LOT WIDER. the Mid's are Smooth, very rich and natural, one of the best mid's i've heard on a around $130 pair of headphones. Bass, though not as powerful as the medium and small pads, it's there alright! you can still feel the thumps, there's no distortion on the low frequencies what so ever.

Fit/Comfort:
The headphones are very flexible, so they don't push against your head hard, so they gently rest there without causing to be annoyed. The ends extend for people as everyone's head may vary, now on my headphones, it is a bit tight and hard to extend and descend them, but Jays has already informed me before i even got my pair is that they will have that problem solved when the Mass Production model goes into Production.

On for the Pads, I would say the most comfortable is the large pads as though competely cup our ears in a little ditch inside the foam, and you can barely feel them there, next comes the Medium as it's just soft foam on your earphones, the least comfortable goes to the little ones as they are very thin and you can feel the plastic pushing against the side of your ear.

Accessories:
Not as jam packed as the other Jays model like the q-Jays, but what can you say, they can't offer 7 pairs and sizes of doam pads or else they'd need like a giant cardboard box to hold the headphones, but none the less it comes with a 1/4inch adapter, a stereo splitter, a airline adapter, three pads, a extension cord, and a carrying pouch. Now the Carrying pouch is a very very very nice pouch, it's soft fuzzy fabric on the inside, and feels a bit like suede on the on the outside, the onthing i complain aobu tit is that it gets really dirty and it's a bit on the small size, but overall, it's a very nice case.

Conclusion:
conclusion:
Variation: Black or White
Transducer: 40mm Multi-Layer Dynamic Driver
Impedance: 40ohm (@1kHz)
Frequency Range: 20Hz-20kHz
Sensitivity (1mW): 99dB SPL/mW
Weight: 73 grams
Cord Style: Y-cord, TPE Covered SGSCC Wire
Mini Jack Style: Gold plated Straight
Pads Used: Small/Medium/Large
Packaging: 9/10 Fantastic looking packaging
Build Quality: 9/10
Accessories: 7/10
Comfort: 8/10
Soundstage: 9/10
Sound Quality: 8/10
Value: 9/10

Overall, Very Very Nice Headphones for around $129.99 USD, though they might not compare to a pair of Grado, AKG, or Denon. They are exceptionally well made headphones, and i would recommend them to people that have a budget and are looking for something that sounds good and is an active person who likes running while listening to their music while not making them look like a goof.

Hope this has helped! Please Comment!

Hi,

Recommended price will be 129.99USD MSRP. We have changed the cushions a bit also (better fit and looks) and the slider is also better for MP units and some other adjustments also.

I just need to say that this reviewer does not work for JAYS. We send out samples during pre-production to get feedback from users and this is one of those guys. There is no commitment at all.

Cheers!
Regards,

How are you running these, amp, source ??
Burn in ??

I tend to agree on your review just not that the big pads are muffeld, hence the questions above...

I find that the c-JAYS just grows with the gear, running lossless-->Zero-->V8 i have the feeling that I have still yet to hear their peak performance..

The only downside about the big pads are that they are almost to revealing, which really tests your chain of sound, it is very merciless to mp3s.

wow, another entry into the ranks of the fuglyphones!

especially with the "large" pads.

they look like shinier $2 wal-mart headphones with ludicrously huge pads.

looks like the sound quality doesn't disappoint though. =)

Still burning them in with a AV Receiver connected to my computer (I'm guessing maybe something like 400-600 hours), and music files coming straight from CD's

either from my phone, (Nokia N95 8GB) which i have to admit is one of the best mp3's out there, beating even "Mp3" mp3's, or from my computer.

They do not need an amp, I use them from my meizu and it sounds quite good , my ipod also gives out enough power, but to make them shine they benefit greatly from an amp.
If you feed them right they really deliever.

One of the cool thing about them is the vesatilty the medium pads on (or the small ones if you are into bass) and use them for a walk and enjoy your music, then when you come home hook them up to your primary rig swap pads to the big ones and you got a homephone on a 150-200 $ level...

People who just want loud music will not like them for portable use, at least not on the limited European players..

I've been looking for some normal-er looking portable headphones and these seem like something I would wear outside. But I'm kinda tight on spending money so I guess I'll stick to my lowly JBL Reference 220s

i bought them two weeks ago, and in combination with Cowon D2, they sounds really good, opposite to the sound in combination with iPhone 3G, major differences are in dynamics

iPhone's output power is much less than D2, I won't be surprised if there is a big difference.

That's good to hear. I have a pair on order and I'm planning to use them with my D2.
