I'm listening to to Adagio for strings by Barber for the 150th time now... I was wondering if he has made any other masterpieces of this magnitude??

Adagio for strings is just incredible... It's one of those absolutely complete pieces, so incredibly complete, it feels like he didn't make it up, but found it!! Like the amazingly simple melody was there all along, simply waiting to be discovered...

Listen to the 1st mov. of Barbers violin concerto.
BTW the adagio was originally the 2nd mov. of his Quartet for strings which Barber later orchestrated. It would be interesting to listen to this adagio in its purest form.
Also try to audition his essays for ordh. as well as school for scandal overture.
