I think the only difference would be in error correction.. Maybe a sony disc sounds better that way. I've never noticed, at any rate..

MD2000 are expensive, magnesium discs. Shmancy alright. Don't know if they would sound better, but they'd better damn well be built better if they cost me about NZ$50 each!

Holy sheeet!!

I don't think i'll buy any of those in a hurry, especially not for my N707!

I guess they'd be great for a high end home MD deck though

The stupid mistake is that the ES blank MD is pictured in the 80-minute length - but unfortunately, the 80-minute ES MD is only available in Japan. Outside of Japan, blank ES MD's are available only in the 74-minute length.

Usually they will sound the same. As long as they don't jam, you are ok.

The only time I notice problems is with dropouts. Quick dead silence intervals. I found this on Maxell Gold 74's when they first came out many years ago. Some old Sony's did it too. Memorex and TDK never have given me any problems.

I'm guessing you bought them online, from abroad??

The only Sony MDs I can find are Premium, Color, and ES on the high street?!

yeah, got them off eBay: they're dirt cheap if you buy from there but real top-notch quality. When I got mine, 50 cost $47.99 without shipping (I only bought 20 though...)

haha anyone believe these Hi Fi World reviews?

lol. TDK MD-XG 74:recordings seem to lose their vitality, sounding rather processed, and sound staging lacks the depth to match fine width.
