Hi,
Getting the iPhone 7 sure is making the headphone selection difficult.
In a nutshell I'm looking for a closed back bluetooth headphones, over the ear, balanced ideal but not looking for anything overpowering in bass, good soundstage if possible, noise canceling is not required but helps for flights, being able to still use a 3.5mm audio jack is a plus, and the budget is around 100-200. I'm open to getting it used to make the price work.
I was looking at lightning headphones which I might still do but bluetooth has better flexibility. I've never had a lightning cable last longer than a year.
I saw a few options from Sony, sennheiser, and audio technica that came close to fitting the bill but hardly any reviews from anyone nitpicky like us. Just for reference I use a he-400 with schiit amp&dac for home use, a ath-m50 or iem from hifiman (sometimes with or without lightning to fiio amp w/dac) for mobile use. I know I can still use that mobile dac but it is starting to have battery loss and looking for something more plug and play.
I mainly use the mobile headphones for flights on our yearly vacation and sometimes drives up to the Grand parents. I was tempted to buy a new mobile dac and that new hifiman s headphones that are both open and closed but honestly I would probably rarely be able to use them open.
I did have a preorder on those indiegogo air earbuds but cancelled it. Just not sold yet on wireless earbuds.
Thanks for the help.
