Amazon seems to have some great prices on headphones/earphones/IEM's (I'm looking only at IEM's for now). However, in the product description for EVERY IEM I have looked at, it says they can only ship it within the US. However, I have heard people who live outside the US saying on Head-fi how they bought from Amazon.

So, will they ship outside the US or not??? I'd appreciate if you could share your experience with ordering from Amazon especially if you live outside USA. (I am in New Zealand by the way).

They won't ship them overseas. Unless you know someone with a US postal address willing to buy on your behalf and ship them to you you're probably out of luck. I've had good results with http://www.earphonesolutions.com/ myself although I have no idea how their prices compare to Amazon. There are some IEMs though (i.e. Shure E500s) that generally speaking cannot be shipped to non-US addresses by any authorized retailer due to distribution deals. The fact the local distribution companies tend to put large markups on the price and don't accept retail sales can be quite a nuisance.

I've bought DVDs from Amazon USA. Maybe if you stick one of those in your basket too, it'll let you have anything else delivered to you too. Just an idea.

Tried to sneak in KSC75 that way. Didn't work. You can order tons of CD's, DVD's or books, but Amazon will not ship any other electronic product overseas.

Strange policy, surely they must be losing some decent money.

yea, I've tried that and I just live in Canada! Amazon.ca has no electronics, probably due to issues with international dealers.

Ok, looks like I'm out of luck with Amazon then. www.earphonesolutions.com seems to be great but they have been out of stock of Ety phones for a while and there is apparently no date for a new shipment. HeadRoom ships internationally as well but they don't sell Ety. I don't want to rule out the Etymotic models completely.

Has anyone else used www.discountheadphones.com before? They seem to have Ety's but the website doesn't look as professional as some of the other ones so just wondering...don't want it to be some kind of scam.

Although I've never used that website on it it says that their sister seller is iDealSound on ebay, and I can say I've purchased things from him and he was a solid seller. He has an online store on ebay, maybe you should check it out.

Yeah he looks safe enough. 100% feedback on ebay.

What do you guys think...should I go with ER6i or d-JAYS? Both would cost me $120 including international shipping? (ER6i from discountheadphones or d-JAYS from HeadRoom)

I say go for the etys: I've never tried the d-Jays but I can tell you that my first step in the head-fi world was a pair of er-4s. I still have them and I use them everyday.
Etys for the win!

Etys are going to be your best choice. They have a nice, accurate sound not unlike listening to music without too much EQ, and are very light. While the sound may not be as "exciting" as some of the competition, it's a reliable option that offers a good upgrade path.

Good luck with your seach!

The Etys are definitely really popular around here (as can be seen from the Etymotic owner headcount thread) but my only reservation about the ER6i is microphonics while running etc, having to replace filters every so often, and the reviews on www.earphonesolutions.com for the ER6i are worth looking at. They are really putting me off this model.
