This is a wrong way to ask..hence u got an answer which didnt satisfy your needs.

Headphones are a very personal thing and without listening to them or telling us your kinda music..no one can give u correct recommendation.

tell us more about why u want headphones( music? gaming? movies?) and what kind of music u ll listen.

I have HD497s now and want to upgrade but spend less than $300. More like $250. I want them to be so comfortable that I can barely feel them on my head. I will use them mostly for music on my PC (SoundBlaster X-Fi) and some gaming. I listen to a lot of female vocal trance. (ATB, Tiesto, PvD, etc.) That's about it.

no. AD900 over HD595 by a rather large margin imo.

tight, accurate bass, seductive midrange, and clear and extended highs combined with nice, airy soundstage. What's not to like?

or you could just go with AD2000s and blow them both out of the water

you might want to consider the ad700 also, i've seen people mention on several occasions that ad700 to ad900 isn't that big of a jump in improvement.

Jeez. Really?

The 700s cost like 33% of the 900s. $105 vs. $278 at Amazon. Are the 900s worth the 265% premium?

I really like the feel of my Audio Technica ATH-AD500s on my head, such a light grip.
I'm now thinking of upgrading to the AD700s, which are half the cost of what you would spend on the AD900s.

Ive had my ad700s for a while now, and I can honestly say they blow away most headphones under 200 bucks.

The bass although mild, is tight and fast, mids and highs are detailed, they are pretty easy to drive and they are very comfortable. I recommend they with a modded Zero Dac :p.

Thanks for the info.

Will the AD700s be an upgrade from my HD497s at all?

It's funny I had the 497 as my first serious pair of headphones, and eventually upgraded to the 595. I wish I had asked the same question then, because the AD900 look like an interesting pair of phones. I haven't heard them though, so I can't compare.

Good luck with your next set of cans, whichever you end up with

Are you using the HD595s now?

How much of an upgrade were they from the 497s?
