Oh in that case I wouldn't know.. the zen dac is warm and denon ah 7200 I have had before was already lacking highs to me, I know nothing about 5200 I don't know how they'll scale to make burson worth the price,
Ta
D5200 is actually the tonally balanced one out of the 3. D9200 is a little bit bright and D7200 is a little bit dark, D5200 is right in the middle. As for scaling..... I thought it sounded pretty good with Playmate 2 but just....... loud. Tried messing around with a bunch of things it always degrade sound and it's kind of why I sold it off.

Again we'll see...... might try iFi Zen Dac V2 first. If I get back to Playmate 2 again I'll let you guys know. :)

Is it correct that the display can neither be dimmed nor turned off?

I have now simply taped the display shut with insulating tape. When I listen to music in the dark, I can not use such a light source

Good old Scotch 33+ is mostly benign in this regard

Installed the V6 Vivid opamps on the I/V stage and these just took the Playmate 2 to another level. Took away the graininess, misgivings, and nitpicks of the stock configuration all the while giving it proper imaging (albeit a bit narrower but better phantom center). This is the way it's meant to be heard, worth the extra. I wonder now if there's a drastic change if replacing the LP stage single opamps.

I know this has been out for a while, but I’m been so curious to listen to the Playmate 2, and finally spent quality time with it. My review below. Any questions, I’ll try and answer them.

The Playmate 2 in V6 Vivid dual sounds awesome! I'm now wondering if it would be overkill and worth it to change to LP stage as well or shall I mix and match the Classics and Vivids. Either way, this is already a very competitive product. If only they'd add analog inputs in the sequel so that we can use its amp stage only. Despite the XMOS, the USB-C input still seem to be iffy at times, not always being recognized with a Huawei phone (via USB Audio Player Pro) and with an Asus laptop I used, needing to be disconnect-reconnected though it seems to be seamless at times as well.

I've found that while mine does the same thing plugging straight in, using an OTG adapter it works 100%.
