Whenever I get a new cable I suffer from ear fatigue usually the first 50 hours whenever I have a listen. Whenever my ears hurt I stop listening. I haven't experienced this problem with used cables.

Biggie.

I got my Grado extension used.... But I should think that you'd want the same amount of time you usually allow for cables.

I typically use cables for about 100 hours before I listen to them critically. However, I also typically use new cables for casual listening while they are in their 100 hour period because I enjoy hearing their sound cure. Congratulations on the new extension cable!

OH god, it amazed me how many people fool themselves into thinking whatever they want.

It helps if you can make an adapter such that you can reverse the male/female connections. Do this for 118 hours, then reverse again, and repeat. By breaking them in this way you will ensure that there will be no electron bottleneck when you do in fact flip it back around for critical listening...
