Post your experience with burn in. Did it help?
I am asking this because I just bought headphones and want to burn them in.

What methods / techniques work best?

I know its probably personal opinion.

Thanks

Personally , I like to listen to them for the duration of the burn in. Throw on your fav tunes and enjoy.

This way you can hear the subtle changes as your hp matures.

Just enjoy them.

just a quick off topic question:

i have a song that makes a pop sound when you listen to a certain part. Can this hurt my headphone?

I usually just do that (listen to them). Personally, I don't really believe in burn-in, but I still do it

I use music with a wide distribution of frequencies, eg Romantic/Contemporary symphonies by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Mahler. You can also try pink noise. I play the tracks at slightly louder than normal listening levels. If it works, great. If it doesn't, I haven't lost anything

The pop is probably because of a read error, ie your disc drive couldn't read that bit on the disc. The pops, as I have experienced them before, are usually very loud, but I'm never quite sure whether they can really do much damage.

just kidding, I find that playing U2 at a slightly higher than comfortable volume works well. at least for me. It did wonders for my K141, but burn-in for my etymotic er-6i didnt change the sound much

i'm not sure if iems are supposed to burn in (i don't think my er4p did), but it did have a lot of difference on my hd25.

personally i use pink noise for a night or two, classical music for a night or two, and then a random cd that i like for another night or two...

what about for the DT770 Pros'?

If anything, the DT770 Pros probably will "burn-in" a bit. There's little evidence of it actually happening, but many have sworn by it.

Why don't you let your own ears be the judge?

Yeah i'll just keep listening to them and see if I notice any changes. thanks for the suggestionss...

wow my ears hurt so bad. I cranked my DT770's up yesterday when i got them and my head feels like I just got electroshock therapy lol. The bass on these is heavy. i like

I'm still not 100% sold on the idea.

But to me it does make sense than the surrounds of the driver will loosen up with use.

Personally, I try to use pink noise at a sample rate of 96khz. So it can get some frequencies above 20khz.

Hmm....an interesting idea indeed.

I'm personally in favor of simply taking Master and Slave, a Cherry Poppin' Daddies song, and looping it for a few hours. It's a very demanding song; almost all the bandwidth of human hearing is used from the deep bass of the chellos all the way up to 20khz.

Although, come to think of it, I really ought to see if I can find a FLAC of some really good pink noise, and just loop that.

Just put whatever music program you have on shuffle and loop and when you're not listening, keep them plugged in and music playing through them while you sleep and throughout the entire day/week/month. This way you get 24 hours a day of burn-in and when you want, you can listen to music. You can also hear the differences in between the days/weeks.
