I found out tonight I am more mechanically challenged than I thought I was. I was excited about putting my new headphone stand together (black). It actually took me a few minutes to think through how to put 4 screws into a base, 2 post and a barrel up top.

I did alright until I got to putting the barrel screw through the base to attach to the side post (which has a thread through the bottom of it). This is where I failed miserably. There is only three threads that present themselves on the bottom to be screwed into the side posts. I screwed it in and the first of three threads stripped. It can no longer be attached since there is no thread to hold it. Take the bolt out of the base and it threads right in. Gosh! Three more threads would have allowed a lame like me to get it right.

Has anyone else ever had this problem with this stand? I sent an email off to Jack. I'm not sure what he can do? Bummed about my new headphone stand, currently a paper weight.

If it's wood shove a toothpick in, and this time torque it down til she strips then back off a little.

You did use a hex wrench, right?
I put two together in about 5-10 minutes. No problems. Tight as a clam.

I did use a hex wrench. Did you have more than three threads on the barrel bolts you had to thread the side posts in?

Get longer bolts...that is an easy one...they are metric IIRC...M5 or M6 IIRC...

The stands come with the Allen key needed (I put together 4 of them that were donations by Jack at 2 different meets). They sealed nice and tight without any extra torque.

I would suggest that you take the bolt to a local hardware store and have them give you the next size up (maybe a 6 X 21 instead of a 5 X 21) with the same thread count and use some muscle and "re-tap" the hole yourself.

It'll work just fine.

Thanks! That's what I thought. Go to Ace Hardware get the old chaps like me get something longer. Seems a guy shouldn't have to do that. Can't quite understand why the specs called for only 3 threads above the base. There is room for 13 threads from the base. Oh well!

Interesting! Mine never came with a hex wrench. I appreciate the tip on getting another bolt. As mechanically challenged as I indicated, I do have hex wrenches, so I was good to go. So I thought.
Oh well, enough moaning. I'll go get a couple more bolts tomorrow.

They are metric, OK? And that is for sure, as I replaced mine with some longer and better looking ones, that Rudi sent me, from the amp cases, and in Europe all is metric system....

I would normally say that mine are probably more sexy than yours, except mine is yet a headphone stand.

Jack brought his new prototype stand to the meet last weekend and I ordered one. It has height adjustability and is perfect for a stat phone. It has a sigle top holder that can easily house a cover over the stats. You can see the pics in my sig link.

A bit more pricey though, but it weighs about 5 lbs. of solid metal and a felt bottom.
