Ok, so with the Sennheiser HD650's coming out, it makes me wonder, what if Sony came out with a "new and improved CD3500"? All you CD3000 owners out there, what would you improve? (Build, comfort, sonic integrity, price

etc..)

Also, how are these cans for jazz? I had finally convinced myself my KSC-35's would suffice for work, but after a Brubeck jazz binge at my local music store, i realize i *need* a good set of closed cans for jazz with a wide soundstage for live recordings. I thought about the ety's but my ears don't like things stuffed into them.

thank you all for your time and opinions.

How about a more compact design w/ better paint job (A100ti)? As for sound, I can't ask for more. Again, I have never heard of the RS1, HP1, or R10.

The only closed phones I've heard that are better than the CD3000s are the R10s. They're not worth their $4000 usual price tag, but there's just an absurd level of clarity with them. This was just from the limited listen I had at Hirsch's place, but it was that easy to tell.

The CD3000s are a great all around phone...the only problem that could present itself is one I'm trying to figure out now - matching them to equipment. A bunch of the CD players in my price range, when combined with the CD3000s, are too bright. The phones themselves I find to be revealing, detailed, and clear, but with the wrong equipment they will be bright. So it's a touch trade-off.

The only thing I'd want improved? I'd prefer if it didn't look like my head was being engulfed. But that's just me.

the CD3000 is more then 10 years old, if i correct. it seems like they don't really care about the rest at the moment.. that is one stable model to run that long!
