Hi guys, this is my 1st venture into the speaker setup. I had enough of headphones ( quite satisfied with what i have). Initially i had the cash for GS1000 but i changed my mind to speakers setup instead. Upon audition i have bought-

Wharfdale diamond 9.1- sweet midrange. The best midrange i ever heard in this speaker's price range. I love sound that consists of clear midrange and smooth treble.

Onkyo A9555- I dunno if you guys have heard this newly released amp but this is better than PM 7001 especially in mids. Hahah Mids again.

CDP: i will either use JVC DVD recorder at the TV area or the roksan kandy mkIII in my room. The roksan sounded much better than the marantz cd5001 in the shop. I am in dilema. If i use the JVC DVD recorder, i am holding back what the speaker and amp are capable of but if i use the roksan then i can only use for listening music in my room.

The cables are pretty cheap ones , QED for the power cord , AR interconnectors and chord speaker cable.

I haven got them yet because they will deliver them on monday. Oh boy i can't wait.

Good luck with the speaker rig. My first pair of decent speakers was a pair of Wharfedales back when I first joined Head-Fi. You thought you were sorry about your wallet before.

Right on that tyrion.
I would recommend also Amphion's speakers.

Stick with the Wharfedale 9.1's - there fantastic little speakers. I just love the smooth and lush sound of Wharfedales (as you might have seen on my sig, I have the 9.5's - love 'em). If I were you I would !DEFINITELY! use the Roksan as your source. You'll never be happy with the JVC...never.

BTW, I just got an Atoll in100 integrated amp, and it makes my Wharfs sing like you wouldn't believe. If you ever are looking to upgrade your amp, you should definitely try to get your hands on one of these French delights.

Also, your system will be happier with different interconnects other than AR. Try maybe Nordost or Kimber. Kimber if you like it punchy and upfront, Nordost if you like it smooth and liquidy.

I will switch btn the cheaper AR and my silveraudio to see which works better in the system.I like to try the nordost one day. The ONKYO A-9555 is around 600 range so i don't think it will fare worse than atoll

Atoll is in 1200-1500 range. If your amp sounds anything close to the Marantz PM7001 (which you compare it to), you would be getting a quite a big upgrade in refinement and transparency with the likes of an atoll in100 - people usually compare the atoll with amps such as Simaudio and YBA - different league.

I used to use an NAD c352. Absolutely blows in comparison.

Hey it is supposed to be budget! Haha i will look into atoll if i want to go further in the speaker world. At 1200- 1500 range, there are many amps to consider like roksan, creek, those usual british brand.
